Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan graced the city of Pune in the ongoing 10th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) where he struck a chord with the audience. Even as Amitabh’s presence led to a big hullaballoo, he went for a walk down the memory lanes and relived some of the fond reminiscences of love & life from the bygone times.

Big B spoke of love for the city and shared his emotions & memories that had the audience and the media beaming at the superstar’s humility and quintessential charm. Amitabh went a tad emotional as he disclosed his close bond with Pune since it was here that he had met his wife Jaya and fallen in love with her.

His affection for Pune was evident as he remarked that it was here that he began his matrimonial voyage by deciding to tie the knot with Jaya Badhuri. The actor also expressed his admiration for the city which, he said, is an important center of art, literature and culture. Interestingly, many of his films have been shot here and the ‘Shehenshah’ was quick to remind us of that.

“Pune is known as city of art, culture and literature, and many of my films have been shot here. But it holds a special place in my heart because I met my Jaya here and I decided to get married to her,’’ recalled Amitabh.

Meanwhile, being a megastar that he is, Amitabh’s presence created quite a stir and almost a stampede. Everyone wanted to have a glimpse of the actor as he announced himself on the venue. He was honoured with the award for ‘Outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema’ and he was modest in all his greatness. Playback singer Asha Bhonsle, who has mesmerized an entire generation with her melodious voice, was also felicitated with the award.
