Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan is recording “Madhushala”, a collection of poems written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, in his own voice. Big B is sceptical as to whether these poems would appeal to today’s youth. The poems talk about the various complexities one faces in life and was published in 1935. Big B is also feeling extremely sad about how technology has taken over the real feel of music. He also describes how previously a large number of musicians used to sit together in a large studio room with their instruments viz. The Sitar, The Shehnai, Tablas, etc. And if even one person would make a mistake they would have to record the entire thing again! However, nowadays, because of technology, everything is made so much easier. Now a studio is much smaller in size and usually it has one large machine that balances sound and a single microphone which is used for the singer as well as the instrument.
Amitabh Bachchan is trying to popularise his father’s work, though he is recording ‘Madhushala’ in his own voice, he is not very sure whether it will become popular especially amongst the youth. Well as he feels that modern technology has overridden the feel of original music. We being today’s youth might not enjoy Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s poems, however we do appreciate the art… That is an unstated fact. Don’t worry Big B, YOU are recording in YOUR voice your father’s work, it will surely become popular. And we all know how serene and beautiful the poem will sound in your voice… We are all eagerly waiting for its release!
