Indian screenwriters not good enough

Or so the comedy actor Boman Irani stated at the IFFI (International Film Festival of India) this Wednesday. According to the actor, the Indian writers are amongst the best in the world, but the writers working in the film industry should work harder on their writing abilities. The Indian cinema could become more important and recognized all over the globe is the writers would focus more on the contemporary consciousness, in Boman Irani’s opinion.

At the IFFI, Irani explained to media persons that the Indian film industry is in need of good scripts, and the solution to this problem would be training the young Indian story writers to participate in script writing. ‘We are good writers but we should good become good screen writers’, he believes.

Irani is known for his exquisite versatility and excellent performances in 3 Idiots, Munnabhai MBBS and Khosla Ka Ghosla, amongst other films. He truly believes that an important part of the cinema and film making is represented by comedy, fact which is reflected in his acting.
