Ever since Rockstar released Ranbir Kapoor has been on a roll. Winning the Best Actor award at the recently concluded Colors Screen Awards has benefited the actor as his work has been recognised and appreciated.
Another thing that comes in with the awards is that Ranbir soon is going to play the role of the legendary Kishore Kumar in a film to be produced by UTV Motion Pictures to be directed by Anurag Basu.
There was news some time back that a biopic of Kishoreda as he is fondly remembered is on the cards. However the details were never unveiled as Amit Kumar (Singer and Kishoreda’s son) never really wanted this film to be made and anyone to draw parallels with his dad an icon himself. The film received huge objections from Kishoreda’s family, but it seems like things are falling into place now as Amit Kumar himself has given a green signal for the project to take off.
Amit Kumar was quoted saying that a film on Kishore Kumar requires extensive research and as an actor after watching Rockstar, it was apt that Ranbir dons the hat of Kishore Kumar as he suits the role to perfection.
There could be no match to someone as versatile as Kishore Kumar and to get the same image of him is impossible, yet Ranbir could do justice, Amit further added.
Even while Anurag continues to do research for this film, Ranbir currently working on Barfee has already started with his preliminary research. There is also news that Amit Kumar would make an appearance in the film and would lend his voice.
Anurag Basu who directed Murder, Kites has for now decided to finish work on Barfee first which also stars Priyanka Chopra and Illeana. He has also held his other film script which is based on a mathematician’s life.
