While there seems to be no end to the rivalry of Sallu and SRK and has become a talking point all over, there is another reason for the stars to pick up another spat. But this time it is not with the stars picking up the fight themselves, but the man in question is Gautham Vasudev Menon who made the hit Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein starring Madhavan and Diya Mirza and the soon to be released Ekk Deewana Tha.
Whilst the trend of making South Movies continues in Bollywood and has created a strong buzz as remakes are proving to be a successful formula in the current scenario, Gautham Menon is having serious issues over casting in his remake of the Tamil Superhit – Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. The Sallu, SRK fight comes as Gautham is seriously confused on whom amongst the two shall be casted for the role.
The Tamil version had Kamal Haasan playing the role of a tough cop. It was a crime thriller which went to win several critical appreciations and Kamal Haasan winning the Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Actor. The film traced the journey in terms of “a day in the cop’s life” and was the first Indian film to use Super35 mm technology.
Even whilst Ekk Deewana Tha songs are garnering huge popularity and seems to have a Musical Blockbuster written in its favour and the film getting ready for release, the remake news of Vettaiyaadu Villaiyaadu is already doing rounds.
The question however remains that who amongst the two will be the chosen one to play the role which Kamal played with such panache. Whilst sources say that Salman has a slight advantage as he has already played an Undercover cop in Wanted (a remake of Telegu hit – Pokkiri) and Dabaang, SRK can pull in a surprise not to forget his character in One2KaFour where he played a cop.
So is it time for another face-off?
