Shashi Kapoor for Padma Bhushan

Mumbai: Rishi Kapoor, the famous veteran Bollywood star, is very enthusiastic about the Padma Bhushan award, for which his uncle Shashi Kapoor has been named. Padma Bhushan is India’s third highest civilian award. We are pleased with this nomination, but not as pleased as we have been if Shammi Kapoor’s name were on the list as well.

Rishi said that he would have been even happier to see both his uncles receive this high honor, especially as the contribution Shammi has brought to the Indian Cinema is not one to be overlooked.

The family has a great reason to celebrate, nonetheless, and Rishi thanks God that the Kapoor family value is finally recognized by the government. Until now, no other member of their family has received such an award in the last decades.

However, it is only fair to mention that the Padma Bhushan award has been awarded in the past to the legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor, Rishi’s grandfather, back in 1969, and two years later, his father, Raj Kapoor also received the award.

The Kapoor’s are indeed very talented!
