Producer Ekta Kapoor and producer-director Karan Johar have, for long, been associated with the ‘K’ word. For years, the two renowned tinsel town celebs have crafted their shows & films starting with the letter ‘K’. While the soap queen Ekta has dished out a number of K-worded TV serials right from ‘Kasauti Zingagi Kii’ to ‘Kyunkii Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, Karan has bombarded Bollywood with a slew of K-named films like ‘Kuch kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’. He even tampered with the spelling of a poor, innocent beverage in order to christen his chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’. Intriguingly, his name also begins with the desirable ‘K’ (K for Karan).
Of late, both Ekta and Karan have mellowed down, somewhat, and have given up this obsession with the letter (or may be, they have run out of K-names) but it looks like the K-ghost of their past is back to haunt them in a completely different avatar. They are now struggling to pick one heroine between Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor (both big actresses having initials KK, that’s two much for them).
Karan and Ekta, who are pretty good friends, have teamed up to churn out a big Bollywood film together but the duo are in a dilemma as to which lead actress to cast. While Karan is advocating the casting of his personal favorite Kareena (incidentally, his other favorite Kajol also has a name starting with K), Ekta wants to sign Katrina for the ambitious project.
Karan, it must be remembered, has done a hoard of films with Kareena including the superhit ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and the upcoming ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’. So, his equation with Bebo is quite understandable. Ekta, on the other hand, has already signed Kareena for her ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2’ and wishes to work with Katrina this time. She also feels that Katrina is apt for the role.
So, while Ekta-Karan struggle with their dilemma, we shall patiently wait to find out which K-girl bags the film in her kitty! And we wonder if the two will be able to exorcise the ghost of the K?
