Rakhi has finally decided to join politics to help the cause of Marathi Cinema by join the Maharastra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena which is an affiliate wing of Raj Thackeray’s MNS and is working to uplift the Marathi cinema. Some of the biggest actors and actresses of Marathi cinema are a part of this outfit according to Union General Secretary Shalini Thackeray who is the cousin of Raj Thackeray himself.
According to her the MNCKS will take up the issues faced by local artists when foreign artistes are hired by the studios which in turn affects the growth of local talent. She also said,”We shall also launch a struggle to elevate the status of Marathi film industry and bring it at par with Bollywood through different methods.”
Some of these changes would include allotting prime slots for screening Marathi movies in multiplexes to attract higher viewership as many multiplexes in Mumbai and Pune show Marathi movies as a token to stay with in the boundaries of the rules set by the government.
Recently the MNCKS helped out aged and ailing Bollywood artistes like AK Hangal and the editor of Sholay MS Shinde.
