Sonam Kapoor becomes face of India International Jewelry Week

Mumbai: The popular B-town actress Sonam Kapoor was invested with a rather important honor, as she is the face of the India International Jewelry Week (IIJW). This fashionable event is at its second edition and has been scheduled to take place from July 31 up to August 4. The organizers of this event are as you may know the Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

Present at an even the beautiful Bollywood actress told reporters that she feel more than proud to have been chosen as the face of this event. It is rather a privilege to be part of it as it promotes the Indian talent on an international platform. The actress also added that she feels happy that the Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council has taken the initiative to do something like this. They have managed to place the country of India on the worldwide arena of designer jewelry.

“I’m looking forward to seeing some exemplary talent at the IIJW this year,” Sonam Kapor told reporters here. The first edition of the event did not have an ambassador, however this time around the Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor will be the celebrity to open the ceremony by walking the ramp on the first day of the India International Jewelry Week.

The official organizers of the event have said that India is one of the best creators of fine jewelry in the world and the event is actually a showcase of the Indian’s prowess in the art of jewelry, be it innovation, design, quality or craftsmanship. The GJEPC chairman, none other than Rajiv Jain said that Sonam Kapoor has been chosen as the brand ambassador of the event as she has the values that they believe fit the brand exactly – luxury, glamour, and yet she is rooted in the Indian culture.
