It is an unpredictable weekend at the box office this week as there was nothing much for the audiences. The delay of Mausam release might have upset Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor fans but it came as a blessing for Aditya Chopra who produced Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. The box office was heavily dominated by Salman Khan starrer Bodyguard and it is still in the theaters making good amount of money. The movie has already crossed 140 crore mark and very close to beat the box office collection of Dabangg. On the other hand, it was Mere Brother Ki Dulhan who got the advantage this week.
With loads of people already having watched Bodyguard preferred watching Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and therefore MBKD became the top movie of the week. It would have been difficult for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan if Mausam’s release date was not postponed. The Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor movie is anxiously awaited by many viewers and therefore it looks like it would have created some storm at the box office, but it will happen next week now.
The other two releases at the box office received poor response from the people so far. The Rajshri Productions came up with Jaana Pehchana, the sequel to Ankhiyon Ke Jharonkhon Se where Sachin and Ranjeeta are back together to continue the same story but it failed to impress and may be Rajshri would have realized that making the same old formula is not an option for them anymore because audience need fresh scripts not a remake of old scripts in modern times. Another movie released this Friday was Rivaaz which had a bold script talking about family prostitution tradition in Indian villages but poor screenplay and pathetic performances by some of the best actors in Hindi cinema doomed not only their careers but also the fate of the movie. No wonder, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Bodyguard still managed to draw crowds inspite of two fresh releases that went down the drain.
