The fate of box office every week is decided by the audiences and therefore there is nothing much that directors and actors can do apart from providing a good entertaining movie to the people. Last week, there was nothing much happening on the box office as most of the films that were released failed to make any impression on the audiences. The first week opening of Yeh Dooriyan, Chitkabrey, Shabri and Stand By were very poor and it was inevitable that they would get washed out by the kind of movies that were going to released right in the following week.
Bodyguard was released for Eid festival and it created a big bang at the box office. Undoubtedly, the Salman-factor has worked once again for the audiences and he has been able to deliver what the audiences want. The movie is a blockbuster hit and it has one of the biggest openings ever in the history of Indian cinema. On Wednesday itself, the movie opened to 95% to 100% all over India and on the very first day the movie was able to collect 20 crore nett profit which is definitely a good sign for distributors and even the director.
Bol is another movie that got released this week. Although, the movie has been one of the biggest hits in Pakistan it could not battle the Bodyguard. In Pakistan, Bol broke the record of My Name is Khan and collected 25 million which is definitely a success. However, in India it only managed to collect 12 to 15 lakhs because of the slow screenplay and because it has more of story and less entertain value. While critics have appreciated the entertainment value of Bodyguard they have also applauded the tight script and performances in Bol.
Mummy Punjabi was nowhere in the race and therefore it collected only 8 to 10 lakhs.
