Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh starrer Desi Boyz released on Friday (25th November 2011). The movie was much in talks prior to the release but sadly the flick could not generate the oomph as required. The flick opened to average business in India. The business of the film on the opening day was reportedly around 40-45%.
In Delhi circuit, East Punjab and Rajasthan, Desi Boyz witnessed somewhat good business. Rockstar appeared to be strapping in India in its second week by making the collections of 16 crores (nett). The total figure of two weeks is 63.50 crores (nett).
The weekend collections of Desi Boyz too appeared average as the film made 25 crores (nett) as per the initial estimates received. On Friday, the flick grossed approximately eight crores (nett) and on the following day (Saturday) the movie again collected eight crores (nett) and then on Sunday, the movie made collections of nine crores (nett).
The Sunday’s collections (as it was expected would be higher than the previous days) too appeared average. In total, Desi Boyz failed to generate the likeliness of the viewers despite having the different and attractive plot. The single screens gave the below average results and in multiplexes, the collections were a bit better but not beneficial.
