Total Collection 60 Cr
After making an impressive collection of 42.65 cr in the first weekend, Gunday seems to be passing the litmus test – the weekdays – with aplomb! The movie has held strong in weekdays, making 6.20 cr on Monday and 5.10 cr on Tuesday.
Even yesterday, the collections on Wednesday (yesterday) were pretty impressive. The Bikram-Bala bromance saga recorded 4.80 cr on the sixth day of its release.
Going by the trend, the film is expected to collect a good business even today too, and the first week collections are expected to be in the range of 62-63 cr, which is pretty solid for a film that had no A-list star in it. The movie stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Priyanka and is set in Calcutta of 1970s.
The movie now boasts of a strong total of 58.75 cr on completion of six days at the ticket window.
Since this one was a masala affair, it was expected that the movie would do great in single screens and perform decently in the multiplexes. However, it has come as a surprise that the movie is doing better in multiplexes than single screens. Maybe the YRF tag helped the movie! The film has performed exceptionally well in Delhi and Central India.
Yes, the movie has the potential to touch the 100 crore mark, if not cross it with aplomb, but it will only happen if Highway does not dampen its show pulling all the crowd towards itself. Another hindrant in the race to the 100 cr mark is the screenplay of the movie being very clichéd that has restricted the word-of-mouth to strictly average.
