Earnings of Paan Singh Tomar as of 11th March 2012 is INR 6.57 crores
Based on the life of a long forgotten athlete, who later became a dacoit, Paan Singh Tomar had a strong story. But despite this, the film fails to create an impact on the box office collections this weekend. Even the presence of impressive names like Irrfan Khan, UTV Productions, and Tigmanshu Dhulia (of “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster” fame) does nothing to save the film from crashing down at the box office.
The movie was not publicized greatly before being released, as a result, many people don’t even know about the movie. This is why the film has opened to a poor and dull start. It has not been able to recover even 5% of its cost in the first day collections. Only word of mouth publicity of the film can help it recover better amounts from the box office.
The flop streak of Bollywood seems to continue with Paan Singh Tomar adding to the list another disappointment. It’s hard to believe that the movie made a poor 70 lacks on day one. It is expected however, that this figure should increase during the weekend. It seems Paan Singh Tomar will just be expecting to cover the making cost of the film and from the looks of it even that seems a futile cry.
Updates:
The weekend seems to have reversed the box office collection of Paan Singh Tomar and London Paris New York. The first day showed the later to be a bigger grosser however come weekend and Paan Singh Tomar overtook the box office collections of London Paris New York.
