Prakash Raj reveals first look of his directorial venture DHONI

After delivering some great films as a producer in Mozhi, Aabiyum Naanum, Inidhu Inidhu (Telegu Re-make of Happy Days), actor Prakash Raj is ready to bring his first directorial venture titled DHONI.

He has revealed the first look of his film on a micro-blogging site. DHONI as the name suggests is a film which is based on Cricket and is set to release in February 2012.

In the past we have had great films like Iqbal, Hattrick, Victory in Hindi and Chennai 600028 in Tamil which explored the theme of cricket in their own way and was a hit among audiences. Dhoni however just has Cricket as a sub plot and talks about the relationship between a Father and son and how career choices matter. It discusses that how a father wants his son to become an MBA whilst his son dreams of becoming a cricketer like the Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni also highlights the sorry plight of the education system of the country and how peer-pressure and classes disturb a mind of a student.

A lot of excitement has already cropped up with the title and first look itself being unveiled. This marks the debut of Prakash Raj as a director after playing his role as a successful producer and winning accolades as an actor. This film also brings back Music Maestro Dr. Illayaraaja into the music scene after his last film Naan Kadavul in 2009. The film marks the debut of Telegu Director Puri Jagannath’s teenage son Akash who plays Prakash Raj’s son in DHONI.

Radhika Apte is the female lead, while Cinematography has been done by K.V Guhan. The film also has Prabhu Deva making his comeback into films as an actor and plays a small cameo.

However the biggest highlight of the film is Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni making his debut. Reports say that he plays himself and is there for a small period of time on screen.

This makes us all excited about DHONI and wishing Prakash Raj and Team All The Best!!
