Singham beats ZMND and Aarakshan in Collections

Movies are not only about creativity and new story telling ideas, but also about box office collections because that is what rates if the movie is hit among the masses or not. In the last few weeks there were many movies that got released but only few of them were able to survive the race. Let’s take a quick look at the top three movies that enjoyed some success at the box office.

Aarakshan definitely has a hard hitting story that can attract people from all walks of life. Directed by Prakash Jha, the movie stars Amitabh Bacchan, Manoj Bajpayee, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Prateik in the lead role. The plot revolves around the caste-based discrimination for reservation policies in government offices and educational institutes. However, Aarakshan couldn’t convince the state governments in UP, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh on time and the movie got banned for some time which led to major financial loss for the distributors. Aarakshan gained Rs. 58.5 crores in the first week and most of the collections came through urban areas.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara took the second spot at the box office gaining around 80 crores in the fourth week. ZNMD is considered to be a surprise hit because movie experts and trade pundits were not sure if the movie will appeal to the audiences but it has emerged successful and many movie lovers like the way the movie has been directed, so full credit goes to the cast and crew of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Taking the top spot for the third week, Singham roars at the box office with 95 crores in three weeks. The Ajay Devgn action drama is definitely becoming a craze for people who want to see something similar like Dabangg and Wanted. However, Singham will have a tough competition in the next week as Salman’s Bodyguard will release on the eve of Eid, but still Singham has earned all the money which makes it a super hit.
