Earnings of The Dirty Picture as of 14th December 2011 is 74.75 crore
Sleazy, Sultry, Seductive, Bold, Dirty – yes we are talking about “The Dirty Picture” here. This Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tushhar Kapoor starrer has created some hype on the very first day its promos went on air.
The film is an unofficial biopic based on one of the most raunchy, rebellious sex symbol of the past, south Indian dancing diva and actress Silk Smitha’s lustful life. When the promos hit the screen the world saw a voluptuous and seductive Vidya Balan and went ‘ohh la la’ … with those sultry looks, some bouncing love handling tricks, with the blouses that is visible though but hardly have the capacity to contain and some dialogues that are clever as well as cocky, Vidya Balan as Silk was definitely something to watch for.
Released on the birthday of Silk Smitha (2nd December 2011), and as expected the dirty picture started pretty well in the box office, with an above average collection despite of low advance bookings. The main reason being it did some excellent business in the single screen theaters where there are no prominent advance booking systems.

The Dirty Picture’ s second Friday collections are holding up really well due to the release of a new film Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. Though the film has lost quite a screen space but still it managed to collect a slight above 2 crore in its second Friday. The film does hopes to have a big jump on the second weekend though.
The total net collection of the movie in its first week is 50 crore. It is recorded as amongst the top ten first week collection of all times.
The Dirty Picture is going to get a very decent figure for its second weekend in the box office. The film was pretty strong on the 2nd Friday and a good jump on Saturday had strengthened it far. The daily breakdown of the second weekend is as follows:

This seems to be an excellent figure and the film’s 10 days total has been 61 crore. Since there is no big release next week and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl could not affect this film, The Dirty Picture is likely to surpass the box office collection of Rockstar.
