The bubbly actress has not only acted but has lent her voice for a lullaby in her second movie, ‘Highway’, too. And the music to her song has been given by none other than the music maestro, A. R. Rahman. A dream debut in singing too, no?
Directed by the ‘Rockstar’ director, Imtiaz Ali, ‘Highway’ has a track titled ‘Sooha Saha’ which is in the voice of Alia. She recently tweeted a video of making of the song. And with her melodious and soothing voice, the pretty girl has surprised everyone. The song is slow and soft, all set to gather praises. The official announcement of the song was made in a press conference yesterday.
Speaking of using Alia’s voice in the song, he very talented A. R. Rahman recently stated that when Imtiaz Ali, the director, said Alia has a great voice, he didn’t trust him. However, Alia, later, learnt the song and sang to him, and that moved him. He praised Alia, saying he was genuinely impressed with her natural ability to sing and the now song sounds great.
Excited to speak of her first signing experience, Alia comfessed that she is actually a bathroom singer. “It was unreal. I am a bathroom singer but to have the opportunity to sing a song composed by Rahman sir was unbelievable. This film is so close to my heart just for acting but for singing too now!”
In the press conference yesterday, an excited Alia Bhatt also joked that she plans to turn singer if she fails as an actress.
A road journey across six states of North India, ‘Highway’ traces the life of Veera and Mahabir. At a interview earlier, Imtiaz Ali had said that this film is actually an unofficial remake of one of his short films. He is returning to direction after three years and the movie is slated to release on Februay 21, a2014.
