Sexy actress Chitrangada Singh, who was earlier seen endorsing jewelry and tea brands, will now promote fitness as the brand ambassador of Puma. At a recently held event in Mumbai at Olive, the 35-year-old star was announced as the brand ambassador for Puma’s various product range along with their latest running and fitness campaign called Move Faas, which can be seen across Puma stores in India.
Dressed up in Puma sports attire and looking every bit sexy like she always does, Chitrangada couldn’t stop gushing about the brand. “I’m thrilled to be the Fitness & Running brand ambassador for PUMA. PUMA is a very cool and vibrant brand, a perfect amalgamation of sport and style. It has set itself apart in the country through its unique designs, colors and approach. Fitness is gaining popularity in the country and Puma`s `Faastest Indian` will take it to the people in the country in their unique, uber cool style,” Chitrangada said in a statement. Rajiv Mehta, managing director, Puma South Asia, said: “Running and Fitness is an important category for us and we`re really excited to have Chitrangada Singh as our brand ambassador for the range. She comes from an army background so sports were an integral part of her growing up days.”
“I think Puma is a lot about fashion,” she added, “ It’s not just about sports or about fitness – of course it’s about that as well but at the same time I think what really sets Puma apart from others is the fashion quotient that it brings in. It’s about colors and something very striking/shocking about it that I love. And I don’t think that there are many people who can refuse Puma firstly. It is such a huge brand and a huge association for me. I remember during my growing years this brand wasn’t available in India and if any relative went abroad I used to ask them to get me something from Puma. And now it feels great to be associated with it!”
So while one would have expected her to be rather handling a golf club (considering her husband Jyoti Randhawa is a golfer), Chitrangada decided to yield a ping pong racquet instead. Even in the sporty look, Singh still managed to look stylish. So what were style and fashion according to her? “I think style is who we are; an expression of who one is. Like sometimes we are very understated and classy- and that is how we dress up – sometimes we feel over the top and dress that way. Because that is who we are. Mind you, my stylist is very unhappy about that! I am not a trend follower for sure, ” she revealed, “Fashion is not only for the classes. I think it goes beyond that to the masses once it survives the classes. I think style is far more important than fashion. You should never follow fashion that makes you uncomfortable. You should always try to look yourself as much as you can.”
A special performance by Capoeira group enthralled everyone gathered. Models Candice Pinto and Anchal Kumar were the first to test the track. Cyrus Sahukar who was hosting the event pulled Anchal’s leg by saying that hers was more of a catwalk instead of an actual sprint. In fact he even went on to imitate her!
The track was open to the general public to try out and not without incentives. The fastest girl and boy were to receive a whole year’s supply of Puma shoes. That’s not all. The fastest boy and girl in India would get a chance to meet the great sprinter Usain Bolt! For further details contact your nearest Puma store.
Also spotted at the party were Arunoday Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rocky S, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, VJ Bani, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Aamna Sharif, Suchitra Pillai, Nishka Lulla and Simran Kaur Mundi.
