While it was continuously being speculated on who will play the female lead in Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Singham 2’, it has now been confirmed that Kareena has given her final nod for the movie. It has now been affirmed that Kareena will be a part of the sequel to 2011 hit, ‘Singham’. And as per sources close to the movie, her role will be of a middle-class Maharastrian woman from the suburban area.
Director Rohit Shetty, who had earlier rubbished reports of casting Kareena for the role as he thought the role was not that meaty has now revised the script again. To gratify Bebo’s star status, the superhit director went to rewrite the female lead’s part and gave it a satisfactory screen presence.
And as per sources close to the movie, Kareena would seen be breaking into fluent Marathi in her excitable moments. Paired opposite the strong cop, Bajirao Singham, Karreena would not only be dressing like a Maharashtrian but will talk like a true Maharashtrian too. Speaking of the equation between Kareena and Marathi, says the source, “Kareena knows a smattering Marathi but for the part in ‘Singham 2’, she will practice Marathi with her Marathi friends.”
Surprisingly, Kareena, who had been in the industry for more than a decade and played various roles, has never played a Marathi character before. An excited Kareena exclaims, “Would you believe it, I have never played a Maharashtrian before. I am really looking forward to it. I know Rohit will make sure my character comes out right.”
Before this movie, Ajay, Kareena and Rohit have worked in two superhit movies together, Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3. Scheduled to released on August 15, shooting of the honest cop story rolls this March.
