‘Rock On’ Sequel Confirmed | Farhan Akhtar Will Play The Lead

rockon!!I remember it was the last weekend of August 2008 when ‘Rock On!!’ had released. The theatre was almost empty in the first show and so were my expectations from his rather less promoted movie. The genre was new (rock) and very little was known in the media about the actual story of the movie. The only reason I had bought the ticket was Farhan Akhtar. I wasjust curious to know why this genius filmmaker decided to mark his debut in acting with this movie. And, man, what a movie it was! Rocking to the core!

Though the movie couldn’t perform to its full potential at the box-office, the movie was loved by one and all. It was an unadulterated dose of friendship and music, and showed us the true potential of the ace director-turned-signer-cum-singer, Farhan Akhtar. While the movie went on to win seven Filmfare awards, it is still one of the best movies for many.

Cut to 2014, the very second day of the year, and we bring you all rocking fans a great news. The sequel to the one of the best movie of 2008 that was in pipeline for some time now has been finalized. While lead actors Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli have been confirmed to extend their roles in the movie and the leading lady and rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. As per reports, the makers are in talks with Prachi Desai to play her part once again in the sequel of this cult musical.

On the direction front, reports are that the director of the first part, Abhishek Kapoor aka Gattu (who directed ‘Kai Po Che’ too) will not be directing the second edition of the popular youth movie. Rather, the famous  admaker Shujaat Saudagar will be seen helming the project and showing his skills on the 70 mm screen.

To be produced under Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, the movie will be go on floors in January 2015 and will release in later part of the year.
