“Love binds everyone”… Is it so? Does it really apply in the real world. We all love our parents a lot and never have the slightest intention of hurting them ever in out life. Then why is it so that if we love someone and our parents are against it then our love for them stands on shaky grounds.Children are always reluctant and hesitant in telling their parents that they are in love. few receive parental support but other always face the bitter truth. Why is it so that parents who claim to love their children, defy themselves and don’t have marginal consideration before killing their own off-spring in the name of honour killing.
Episode five struck love chords and revealed the brutal truth prevailing in Indian subcontinent about the merciless honour killing. The Guests that were present on the show were couples who tied the knot by going against their families, relatives who lost their loved ones and people who help such couples and others.
These cases are regular feature in news in all media and talk of shows depicting crime in our country.Lokendra and Fehmida from Jhansi,UP have been and are still struggling from past couple of years to save their lives from Fehmida’s family. Despite having a protection order from court, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh police officials didn’t help them. What are they supposed to do, where are they supposed to go? No one knows.
We all are aware of the Rizwan Rahman’s case from Kolkata who lost his life for marrying a Hindu girl Priyanka Todi and was found dead close to a railway track. Police reports that were manipulated shows that it was a case of suicide but Rizwan’s family reveals the bitter truth.Nobody heard of Priyanka after the whole incident, some even doubt her existence.
If one marries in different caste that is a problem, if they marry in the same caste, then also persists to be problematic, what are we supposed to do? For Manoj and Babli from a village in Haryana had the same ‘Gotra’ thing turned out to be brutal and they were murdered for tying the knot. Manoj’s mother and sister are still fighting for justice despite being threatened many times to withdraw the complaint.
Khap Panchayat is a religious caste-based council, with no judicial powers, consider themselves to be law-makers and dictators, and their orders are meant to be followed. There take on inter-caste marriages left the audience flabbergasted.
Sanjay Sachdev, Chairman of Love Commandos from New Delhi helps such couples by giving them shelter, food, protection and legal help.Sanjay Sachdev walks around with the motto ‘Love shall conquer the world’ .
Dr Alka Jain’s parents were against her marriage with Dr Uday Patkar. Fearing rejection from society, Alka’s parents didn’t accept her for years.Later they fell weak in their knees and realized that their daughter is happy and accepted her with open arms. Theirs is an example to be remembered and rejecting someone on the basis of caste or religion is not justifiable.
