Sonam Kapoor set to spread breast cancer awareness

One of the deadliest of diseases looming at large today is the deadly breast cancer. It claims many a lives every passing day and yet many are unaware of the fact. Spreading awareness of such diseases should be of prime concern especially in a developing nation like India. The celebrity fraternity have always taken the endeavour of spreading awareness about many social and physical evils. This time it’s Sonam Kapoor against breast cancer.

The Bollywood actress has urged all women to wear something pink to work on the 21st of October just to spread awareness about the impact of breast cancer. The actress who is now 26 years by age is also the brand ambassador to the Ogaan Cancer Foundation. The pink dress campaign is a part of a larger campaign for that very organization and Sonam is spearheading it with all her efforts.

Sonam was seen commenting, “Everyone seems to know someone with breast cancer – I lost an aunt to it. Detecting cancer early is the only way to fight and that requires awareness about tests and a healthy lifestyle. I’m very happy to support the OCF team on this very special initiative, as they continue to show earnestness and a sense of dedicated purpose. I hope I can make a difference in my own way.”

In another statement the director of Ogaan Cancer Foundation Archana Pillai stated, “With the Wear Pink to Work Day program, we hope to reach a new target audience for our message, and raise awareness among men as well. After all, we know women are often self-sacrificing, putting their own needs last. It’s time for us to acknowledge that a woman’s health should be a family priority too.”

October has been designated as breast cancer awareness month all across the globe. The Ogaan Cancer Foundation together with the ELLE breast cancer campaign is organizing many such awareness campaigns all across the country. These include pink ribbon promotions and other activities to spread awareness and collect funds. Noble venture indeed Sonam.
