The Iron Lady – Movie Preview

The much-in-talks and the movie that generated the criticism by the time it went on floors, ‘The Iron Lady’ is all set to make waves on 16 December 2011 (United States), 6th January 2012 in the UK and 13th January 2012 worldwide. 20th Century Fox in association with The Weinstein Company will be the distributor of the flick that stars Meryl Streep, Jim Broadbent, Anthony Head and Richard E Grant in pivotal roles. Produced by Damian Jones, the enterprise is the directorial venture of Phyllida Lloyd and the musical fiesta of Thomas Newman.


The Iron Lady is a biographical outing on the life and career of the much famed former Prime Minister of the UK Margaret Thatcher (played by Meryl Streep). The movie talks about the life-cycle of the EX-PM of the UK as to how she entered into politics and then became the prime minister of the most powerful country of the world. The sufferings she faced, the decisions she made and the problems come across to her during her reign.

Other Facts

The film was shot brilliantly and creatively and the expectations are high about the biggest turn out of the masses at the ticketing window. Jim Broadbent enacts the character of Margaret Thatcher’s husband, Denis Thatcher and Anthony Head essays the role of Geoffrey Howe, who was the deputy and the member of Thatcher’s cabinet.

The movie will be shown with flashbacks pouring lights on many sensitive issues such as the Falklands War of 1982.

The shooting of the flick started on 31st January 2011. To do the role of Margaret Thatcher, Streep made the rounds of the House of Commons to have meetings with the MPs.

The Iron Lady is being awaited by the moviegoers and is expected to witness good viewers upon release.
