Yash Chopra, the King of Romance, who sparked life and romance on the celluloid, breathed his last in Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai today. Recently in the news for his deteriorating health, suffering from a dengue attack, Yash ji, was heard recovering, but suddenly news flashed that he left us all.
Born in British India, Lahore, now in Paksitan, in 1932, this film director, screenwriter and film producer, was everyone’s favourite.
No words can express, Yash Ji’s contribution to Indian Cinema, from Meena Kumari to Shah Rukh Khan, he has penned down beautiful poetry. His directorial techniques are well-spoken off and replicated by almost any aspiring director. He splashed the Hindi Cine with colours of romance, jealously, love, friendship and every possible emotion. His movies were loved by all, he signatured the dancing in and around the Swiss Alps, amidst huge landscape, fields of flower, under waterfalls, on snow-covered mountains, best possible foreign locations. His films and their romantic sequences were a must watch and worth awe-ing for.
He delivered on screen the sheer skills and expertise that none other could even think during his times. An innovator as it may be put; Yash Chopra’s bannered movies were blockbusters, immensely popular amongst the masses. He made us fall in love all over again, with each of his masterpiece.
A career that spanned for about five decades, his last venture a total Yash Chopra Romance “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” is about to hit the screens this Diwali. With it came the news that this will be his last directorial venture, who would have ever thought that it would indeed be.
The star recently celebrated his 80th birthday on September 27th, where all poured their love and best wishes on him. He even attended Amitabh Bachchan’s 70th birthday party along with his wife. Yash Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan’s association that been a sure-shot success formula. Deewar, Silsila, Kabhi Kabhi, all are etched down on pillars across memory lanes and history of Indian Cinema.
The masses have been aghast by his sudden demise, all are in state of shock, all who loved him and his work are reminiscing his beautiful, romantic dramas which have the intensity still to move any soul.
