As the entire nation was gearing up to celebrate the festival of colour, the entire crew of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara celebrated the famous Tomatina festival in Spain. The Tomatino festival is known for people throwing tomatoes on each other and dipping each other in the pool of tomato juice.
Apparently there was a particular scene in the movie where the four lead actors of the movie Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif and Abhay Deol were supposed to be participating in the Tomatino festival. Thus the entire festival was created on the sets of the movie and was shot in Bunyol, Valencia in Spain.
According to the producer Ritesh Sidhwani , they had to import around 16 tonnes of tomatoes from Portugal, the Siberian neighbour of Spain as the tomatoes in Spain were not ripe at that time. An amount of Rs 1 crore was spent on this particular shoot and around 24 tonnes of tomato puree was used as well.
The movie is being directed by Farhan Akhtar’s sister Zoya Akhtar who made her directorial debut with the movie Luck By Chance and in this movie she traverses the landscapes of Spain showing a different side of this country.
