Bollywood Movies 2012

The Indian movie industry has many promises to keep this year. With an array of movies from different genres that promises to entertain every section of the audience let’s see what are the most awaited movies this year.

Agneepath:

Never before has any remake grabbed so much attention as this one. The remake of the 1990 classic movie, Agneepath which smashed all box office records is to return this January. With a powerful star cast, the movie promos have already grabbed eyeballs.  With actors like Hrithik Roshan portraying the protagonist’s role, movie critics are going to keep their fingers crossed on this one. With actor Priyanka Chopra fitting well into a supporting role, the movie has already featured in the must watch list of movies of 2012. A sizzling item number by Katrina Kaif as “Chikni Chameli”, the marketing of the film is on fire. What stirred the most curious glances is however, the new look of Sanjay Dutt in the movie portraying the role of “Kaancha Cheena”. Will the remake soar the charts like the original movie however remains to be seen!

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu:

A Karan Johar movie that tells the tale of a unique love story: a glamorous and vibrant Kareena portraying a carefree and fun loving hairstylist who happens to marry Imraan Khan out of a trip to Vegas and too much alcohol. The movie might seem like a rip off from a famous Hollywood movie, however with the lead pair promising a power packed performance, no one seems to be complaining. The trailers give the audiences a sneak peek into Kareena’s real self which is vibrant and full of life. It is understandable that she is the show stealer. Imraan on the other hand does justice with his innocent guy next door look. Releasing this Valentine’s, it is a twisted tale of love. The movie has already got a lot of attention with its title track “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu”, and the audience is waiting for its release to enjoy this unconventional love story from the KJo brand.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gya:

Bollywood seems to have a lot of romantic stories lined up this year.Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya , releasing on 24th February, promises to relive the Valentine’s day spirit. The biggest selling point of this movie is the Ritesh and Genelia Lead pair, who are also a couple in real life and are due to get married in March. Much remains to be seen as the real life couple of eight years try to portray the role of a reel life romantic couple. Supporting them is the legendary veteran, Om Puri. Director Mandeep Kumar could not have found a better time to release the movie, especially with the supposed wedding date lined up for the couple.

Agent Vinod:

Come 2012, and the Indian audiences can get a preview of our very own Bond movie, desi style. The movie has been facing many a delay with the sudden death of Saif’s father, Nawab of Pataudi. The movie promises to be a one of a kind spy movie, with all the action and thrill that is reminder of the Hollywood spy movies. Saif is also the producer for this movie and according to him; the best teams are working to make this movie stand out among all the other action thriller movies. Kareena and Saif pair up as the lead cast, and although the pair has faced two flops, their real life chemistry is what makes it more special. The couple is also expected to tie knot in real life after the release of the movie sometime in March. This one is one movie to look out for its Saif-eena charm.

Kya Super Kool Hai Hum:

2012 seems to be the year of remakes and sequels. The sequel to the slapstick comedy, “Kya Kool Hai Hum” starring Tusshar Kapur and Ritesh Deshmukh this movie is another addition to the previous version with more punches and better attempts at comedy. Although the male lead of the movie remains same as the previous version, the female star cast has been replaced by Neha Sharma and Srah Jane Dias. Audiences will keep an eye for this one to see if the comedy can be recreated or the magic has fizzed away.

Jannat 2:

Yet another sequal to the hit, Jannat, the movie sees the debut of ex miss India Universe Esha Gupta. One can count on Vishesh films to make a hit film using the same old formula of a person whose ultimate desire is to make money and how it changes his life. Emraan Hashmi has proved that he can be pull off a movie with his performances, and the July release will see the audiences’ speculation coming to an end. An icing to the movie is that it is co produced by Fox studios.

Taalash:

A movie has already been a child to controversies, with three fake posters of it being already released. This July release sees the comeback of the perfectionist actor Aamir Khan with the hit team of Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of “Dil Chahata Hai” fame. Aamir is portraying the role of a cop in this movie,and with the lead pair of Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor, this is surely one movie to look out for in 2012.

Ek Tha Tiger:

Salman Khan Fans are in for yet another big surprise this year. Salman Khan has been roped in by Yash Raj Film for a movie opposite ex fling Katrina Kaif. For the audiences, it is a double treat, as they get to see Salman opposite Katrina and in a Yash Raj film. With music by Pritam and direction by Kabir Khan, the story for the film has been written by Yash Chopra. A visual treat with a post Eid release, the movie posters has already been released.

Jism 2:

The balls have been set rolling for this movie as there are talks of Canadian porn star of Big Boss fame, Sunny Leone being a part of the movie. This movie form the Bhatt camp is not a sequel to Jism, However the story is somewhat similar dealing with the crimes for passion. The movie is co-directed by actor, Dino Morea , and with Mahesh Bhatt pairing up with daughter Pooja Bhatt, this is going to be a class apart. With semi nude posters that tease the Indian sensibility, Jism 2 is going to revolutionise the way Indian cinema treats Sex. Let’s see if the Indian audiences readily accept a movie ahead of its comfort zone.

Raaz 3:

Vikram Bhatt seems to have found his forte, and horror flicks seem to be his new genre. He excels in these horror movies, and part three promises to be better than its earlier counterparts. With a start cast that says Emraan Hashmi, Jaquline Fernendes and a probable appearance by Bipasha Basu, the movie promises to be a different from the previous thrillers. Scare is the keyword here, and with Vikram reporting spooky event happening to him during the shoot of this movie, expectations are raised. We wait for this movie’s 6th July release probably in 3D.

Heroine:

Madhur Bhandarkar releases are always most anticipated and with this movie roping in controversies about its star cast, expectations are already soaring. The film maker has successfully portrayed real life scenarios in cult movies like Chandni Bar and Fashion etc. With Aishwarya opting out of the movie after getting pregnant, there was much debate on who would fit into her shoes for the role. Madhur initially convinced Kareena to portray this role; however she was not very comfortable with certain segments of the story. With a bond that extends way beyond sharing a film experience, Madhur ultimately convinced Bebo to do the film. With Kareena’s portrayal of yet another feminist oriented role, the audiences cannot wait for the late release. Hope the shooting of the film get over without any more glitches.

Department:

Ram Gopal Verma is back with a bang. A strong star cast with the who’s who of the film industry with names like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and others,this film has already grabbed much attention from both  audiences and critics. Ramu is back with a genre he is best in, and a gangstar movie with a powerful star cast is bound to be a treat for the audiences. The story is about two police officers who try and tackle the Mumbai underworld. With thrills and entertainment packed in one movie, this one promises to revisit old hits from the maker.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani:

Bollywood thrives on romance, and for every thriller, there are two romantic movies churned out every year. However what sets this movie apart is the tag that Karan Johar can make such films. The movie casts Ranbir Kapoor and Depika Padukone ,  who are sharing screen space after their much hyped break up. The audiences are waiting to see the hot pair sizzle on screen and share their former real life chemistry in reel life. Depika and Ranbir had been vocal about their relationship, and with the breakup being the topic of discussion for many, the movie is sure to be one to look out for. With Karan Johar casting his magic, romance is in the air.

Khiladi 786:

Akshay Kumar is back with yet another addition to the Khiladi sequences. There was a time when a Khiladi movie would surely be a success formula for the actor. What remains to be seen is whether the magic would be recreated. Akshay Kumar came to be known as Mr. Khiladi. The movie promises thrill and adventure with an essence of comedy. Packed with very impressive action sequences, this one is sure to make a mark for itself. The movie is also the very first association of Himesh Reshamia and Akshay Kumar and supposedly Paresh Rawal has also agreed to be a part of this venture. The movie is slated to undergo a title change and Akshay Kumar will be seen as a Punjabi. The release of the movie is rumored to be around Diwali and it adds a touch of comedy with the action.

Dabangg 2:

Hail Chulbul Pandey, the much loved cop in Dabangg. The movie became a super hit with the common man loving the simple yet stylish and full of attitude portrayal of the character by Salman. The songs are to hit the charts soon and with an addition of a new Villain, Salman is set to cast his magic with this one. Action packed and one with witty dialogues, the simple story of good over evil has been made to entertain the masses. Watch out for the much loved Chulbul Pandey in a new story but with his signature looks and style. Salman is set to win the hearts of the Indian audiences just like he casted his spell with his character in the first movie.

A lot to look out for! From comedy to drama, to romantic movie and some very action packed thrillers, 2012 is to bring in a lot of choices for the audiences to choose from, and if you happen to be a movie buff, there could not have been better news for you. With cynics predicting the end of the world in 2012, what better way to end than with an entertainment packed year for the Indian audiences.
