Jannat 2 arrives at the theaters finally. The film was much in talks and being awaited by the cinema lovers in particular the lovers of Emraan Hashmi. Vishesh Films’ movies always have worth and most of their movies run at the box office producing handsome collections to create smile on the faces of the makers, investors, cast and the people associated with the flicks. The banner is widely famous for quality music and making the attention-grabbing movies on small budget. Whether a film of Bhatt camp gets success or flopped, the fact remains that the music of each of their films succeeds well and glide on the ears of the listeners. They churn out hummable melodious tunes which instantly capture the hearts and souls of the music aficionados.
The fashion of sequels has now penetrated into the Hindi cinema’s scene nowadays. We have been witnessing movies’ sequels quite a lot – the trend is gathering strength due to the good response from the moviegoers. Once the cinema audience begins loving something, obviously the filmmakers get crazy to make business out of it. Thus chewing up business out of the trade of sequels these days is much in. Well, Bhatts are also no exception at all since they too have been rolling on with this trend since quite some time. They have made the sequel to their hit ‘Murder’ as ‘Murder 2’, Jannat 2 releases today, Jism 2, Raaz 3 is being made and the blockbuster of 90s era Aashquie ‘s sequel to has been announced which will be titled ‘Aashquie 2’. There is no harm at all in making sequels provided that you make with super conviction and care so that the end customer (the king of the trade) ‘movie viewer’ can be satisfied and enjoy watching your cinematic product. And I admit, majority of the sequels are always made with much care and intelligence.
Jannat was about the dark side to the cricketing world whereas the latest installment of it revolves around the arms trafficking – the unlawful trading of the weapons.
Today Bollywood is quite open to every kind of subject to make movies on – from romantic to sensitive to social subjects, all are touched to create the work on celluloid. It is every encouraging and applaudable. Bringing the evil subjects like illegal arms trading on screen must be appreciated a lot. In Hindi films, we have watched endless amount of flicks on drug smuggling and underworld and also viewed the movies where we watched the arms trading but not a full-fledged enterprise on this evil of society has been brought on screen so far. Mahesh Bhatt and director Kunal Deshmukh made this happen.
Janant 2 unzips the illegal weapons trading being happened in the capital. The film depicts the facts – how the arms are sold and purchased with super ease. The viewer gets shocked watching the facts unzipping on screen. The business of arms trafficking is gaining strength and this is what has been thrown on celluloid for your viewing and knowledge.
Sonu (Emraan Hashmi) is a street gun dealer who knows his trade luminously. ACP Pratap (Randeep Hooda), who happens to be a hard-bitten police officer, has feud against the nexus of gun traders. He is on way to slaughter this nexus. He zeroes in Sonu to be his informer, as he is the perfect and apt fit for this task. And this man can easily slips into the dark world of ammunition trafficking. Through this man, Pratap can reach at all the hidden faces of this racket. In his journey to expose the faces of the ammunition dealers, Sonu loses his heart to a ravishing doctor Jhanvi (Esha Gupta).
Story is innovative and deserves brownie points. The writer Shagufta Rafique should be applauded to dash off the story for the flick. The script is well-penned with no holes or flaws attached to it. Shagufta is the intelligent brain behind the scripting of the movie. Normally we see that often the films lack in post interval portions but the quality of this writer (and also the director) is superb that the viewer’s attention and interest quotient keep continue till the finale.
Kunal Deshmukh is a brilliant storyteller – he proves it with this masterpiece. His execution of the movie is gripping and mind boggling. He never leaves you yawning even for a second. Dialogues need special mention as well since they are much appealing. Sanjay Masoom does the adroit job for making them alluring for the audiences. Bobby Singh’s cinematography ceases the breath flow. Editing is first rate. Music by Pritam is melodious and hits the hearts.
Emraan Hashmi is the man who loots the souls of the moviegoers with his classy act as a smart gun dealer. He is a brilliant actor already and with this outing, he adds extra feathers to his stardom. Randeep Hooda is a class to watch. He essays the role of a hardened cop with super conviction. Esha Gupta makes her Bollywood debut with this film. She looks sexy, stylish and gorgeous. As for her acting skills, she possesses in abundance and can surely make her mark in Hindi cinema. Manish Chaudhari shows his brilliance with his act. Rest of the cast attracts as well.
Final Verdict by the Critic:
Jannat 2 is a brilliantly made film having all ingredients to impress the audiences. A MUST WATCH!
Jannat 2 is set to release in May 2012
Jannat 2 is a sequel to the film Jannat which was a huge hit and was released in the year 2008. Jannat was the story of a bookie involved in betting and match fixing. But the sequel to it, Jannat 2 is the story of an illegal arms dealer in Delhi.
Emraan Hashmi was in the lead of the previous movie and in this movie too he plays the central character and hi characters name is ‘Arjun’ same as the previous one. Esha Gupta a new comer will star opposite him and play his love interest in the movie. Randeep Hooda portrays an important character in the film and Imran Zahid plays the character of a police inspector name ‘Vijay Thakur’ in the movie.
Jannat 2 is being directed by Kunal Deshmukh, he had directed the previous movie as well. It is being produced under the Vishesh Films banner, but Vishesh Films will only be dealing with the distribution of this movie in the Indian market for Star Studios will be responsible for the distribution of this movie in the overseas market. This is going to be a huge film as it is riding on huge expectations as people are really looking forward to this movie.
Music director Pritam is doing the music for this film too, as he was the one who was responsible for the success of the previous film’s music. So it’s pretty obvious that the music of this film too will be as appealing as the previous one, infact a song from this movie has already being leaked and is available on various sites and has been liked by the listeners.
There are a certain controversies surrounding this film. The most important one is that, this movie was supposed to be released on 27th April 2012 but now it will release in May 2012 due to certain issues. Secondly it is reported that earlier Prachi Desai was cast for the role opposite Emraan Hashmi but later on she was dropped and Esha Gupta was chosen over her because the director thought that Prachi wouldn’t be able to match up to the hotness quotient required for the role in this movie. Some of the sequences in this movie have been shot in the Delhi Metro Services as well.
Jannat 2 has to thrive on huge expectations and with the delay in release will increase the amount of expectations which might end up being a little too hard for the movie to live up to. Though nothing about the story of the movie has been revealed yet and neither have the teasers been released, but Jannat 2 is definitely a movie to look forward to in 2012.
