[xrr rating=3/5]

The pairing of Bipasha Basu and R. Madhavan has well been in talks due to the fact that Bipasha is working opposite the star who has not done any Bollywood film as a leading hero so far. Maddy (Madhavan) has done a number of movies in Bollywood and many of them have succeeded at the box office but he has not been fetched in as a single leading hero in any of the flick. In Tanu Weds Manu, he was seen as a hero but again, Jimmy Shergill was there as well in the film. This time around, he was roped in to act as the main protagonist in Jodi Breakers. Thanks to Bipasha Basu who recommended his name. Well, the pairing of both – Bips and Madhavan is being liked and acknowledged. R. Madhavan is undoubtedly a brilliant actor of Indian cinema industry. In regional movies, he is a big star and in Bollywood scene, he always flaunts his acting prowess with finesse and conviction.

Ashwini Chaudhary’s Jodi Breakers is different from the routine cinematic works. Most of the Hindi movies are about love but this one is about the couple (R. Madhavan and Bipasha Basu) who specializes in break-ups (Jodi Breakers). They help the despondent and discontented couples part ways. The film unzips… if the love doesn’t go well, find your own way to move life on.

Although the script seems novel and the idea seems different but the initial portions of the movie make you think you have come across the going-ons previously in various Hindi films. The first half of the movie strictly seems to be borrowed from numerous Hindi cinematic products though you cannot name one.  But you like to sail through with the proceedings nonetheless since the director has potential to get the viewers glued to the screens. Once the second half of the movie begins, it brings the true life to the narrative. The viewers start enjoying with the cinematic finished goods on screen. The post interval portion is really interesting and carries the drama to lure the souls.

Sid (R. Madhavan), a divorcee, is of the view that happy marriages happen to be something of a fictitious stories. He no longer believes in marriage post his parting ways from his better half. He fastens the belts to become a breakup specialist. He bumps into Sonali (Bipasha Basu) and both zero in to turn Jodi Breakers. An incident happens that changes their lives altogether by making them decide to resolve the wrong doings they had done.

The first half of the movie, as explained above, is ordinary as it carries unpleasant sequences and gets the viewers bored. The post interval portion is classy and superb in every sense of the word. It is filled with drama that is attention-grabbing. The film’s ending is marvelous and well-handled. The brilliant thing about the film is that the viewer takes the movie back home.

Ashwini Chaudhary is a luminous filmmaker – this is a fact keeping in mind his previous attempts in Hindi cinema. The director makes a great focus on the leading pairing of Madhavan and Bipasha. He tries to be focused on the subject. He is complimented with well-made script (though it is unpleasant in first half).  Script has been handled by Aakash Kaushik and he deserves good marks (not being awarded distinctive marks since he could not attract the viewers in first portion of the film). Cinematography is a work of art. The locales of Greece have been captured with brilliance and they appear eye-candy. Editing portion is fabulous.

Salim-Sulaiman’s music is mellifluous. Few of the songs have already been running well on the music charts like Bipasha and Kunwara.

R. Madhavan proves his usual brilliance in acting. He is a great actor – the viewers know it well already. He sinks into the character with conviction. Bipasha Basu shines in her part. She looks utter glamorous, sexy and beautiful. Milind Soman is first rate. Dipannita Sharma goes well with the role. Omi Vaidya enacts the character with class. Tarana Raja does fine and Helen attracts with her role.

Final Verdict by the Critic:

In a capsule, Jodi Breakers is a different movie with gripping script and marvelous performances. Leave aside the dry first half and enjoy the rest of the film that is brilliantly made.

Movie Details:

Jodi Breakers is set to release on 24th February 2012

Jodi Breakers is directed by Ashwini Choudhary and has an unconventional pairing of southern superstar R Madhavan and our very own red hot Bipasha Basu.

This movie is being produced under the Prasar Visions Pvt Ltd banner and will be distributed by the same distribution house. Madhavan plays the lead role in the movie and his characters name is ‘Sid’ and Bipasha Basu is paired against him and will play the character of his love interest in the film, named ‘Sonali’.

This is for the first time that these two actors are coming together in a film and it is a very fresh and unconventional sort of a pairing which to an extent will appeal to the audiences. To add to this the funny man, Omi Vaidya and Dipannita Sharma are playing the supporting characters in the movie.

Jodi Breakers basically is a story about two people who do not believe in love, Madhavan and Bipasha will be seen as them in the movie. Since they don’t believe in relationship and other sorts of commitment they help other people, who have issues and problems in their relationship, to break out of their relationship. But as the story progresses these two characters come close to each other by working for the same clients and develop feelings for each other and eventually fall in love.

This film previously had been titled as ‘Shaadi Fast Forward’ but later on it was changed to ‘Jodi Breakers’ as going by the storyline this name suited the movie better. This movie has been shot in various locations of Greece, Goa and Mumbai.

The first look of this movie is already out and has been grabbing a lot of attention. R Madhavan looks really smart and cool in the previews and at the same time BIpasha Basu is looking smoking hot and with her item number in the movie she is raising the level of the mercury.

R Madhvan’s last release ‘Tannu Weds Mannu’ was a surprise hit and it was really liked by audiences of all ages and people really appreciated his acting in the movie. So expectations are definitely going to get higher for this movie. This movie will be the second release for Bipasha Basu this year as her movie ‘Players’ has just hit the box-office this week.

They both are looking good in the movie and the movie overall seems to be a promising one. It definitely has an interesting storyline but it completely depends on the director how he has represented it in the movie. Jodi Breakers definitely is a highly anticipated movie as it offers fresh casting and different storyline on the platter.
