When people talk about the biggest brands of the tinsel town, the name that is on everyone’s mouth is undoubtedly Dharma Productions. Founded by the veteran film producer and director Yash Johar, the legacy has been carried forward by his able son, Karan Johar. Over the years, Dharma Production has gifted the country with some widely accepted, entertaining, at times serious films which has elevated the brand to another level. Under the furnished hands of the most renowned film maker today, Dharma Productions has taken quite a number of risks but yet managed to leap through.
Over the 14 years that Karan has been with the house, a list of nine newbie directors has been given work. From Nikhil Advani of ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ to Shakun Batra of ‘Ekk Main aur ekk tu’, Karan has always helped newcomers take their first step in B-town! And this time, it’s no different!
With women’s Day just passing by and knowing the kind of respect Karan shares for women, he has announced an untitled film, with a first time woman director. Sonam Nair, the bubbly girl is overwhelmed by Karan’s gesture. In an entirely male dominated industry, Karan is one of the few film makers who not only gives an opportunity to aspiring film makers but demolishes the ills of male chauvinism that the industry is enveloped with. History has it, whoever has made a movie with the Dharma Production, and they have gone on to have an incredible career graph from there on. For Sonam, it would be no different, we feel! Lucky you, gal!
