Pankaj Kapoor starrer Happi a tribute to Charlie Chaplin

After having adorned the director’s hat for the very first time in Mausam, actor Pankaj Kapoor will be seen as an actor in Happi. The film will be directed by second time director Bhavna Talwar, her first film being the acclaimed Dharm released in 2007. That film too starred Pankaj Kapoor. According to the director, Happi pays homage to Charlie Chaplin & Kapoor plays the central character. The first theatrical promo of Happi was aired during Pankaj Kapoor’s Mausam.

The film revolves around a man named Happi (Pankaj Kapoor) who is living despite all odds and is a happy-go-lucky person. He earns his living by entertaining people at a local place named ‘Café Bombay’. One day, he finds that his café is revived into Club Mumbai, a hip and an up market lounge but he refuses to accept failure and starts his own journey with an uncommon companion in a puppy, who follows and loves him unconditionally. Apart from Pankaj Kapoor, the film also stars Hrishita Bhatt, Nakul Vaid, Supriya Pathak and Raj Saluja.

Accidently, just like Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial debut, Happi too was delayed. Though there were several uninviting reasons for the delay in Mausam’s release, Happi was delayed solely because the lead actor, Pankaj Kapoor, was totally concentrating on his directorial venture. Earlier the release date was set as May 20 and it is now finally scheduled for release on October 14 this year. The music is done by Illayaraja, whose last rendition for Bollywood was R. Balki’s Paa.
