We all love the way Shah Rukh delivers this dialogue in the movie “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”, don’t we? But is it the veritable truth? The probable answer is a “No”. It is common to see parents registering their children on to matrimony sites and looking for their perfect match. But what‘s more common is, children of single parents logging their parents’ profiles on sites that assist in marriage for the second time. Revolving around this idea is the plot of Second Marriage Dot Com, which breaks the free from the shackles of the above stated dialogue. Epitome drama, comedy, romance, guilt and all human emotions are all blended into a tale and served to the audience on a colorful platter.
The story embarks with Akshay, a young IT Professional in Delhi, who in order to put an end to his father’s loneliness, makes up his mind to find a match for his widower father, Suneel Narang, who raised him up single-handedly. On the other hand, we come across sensitive yet vivacious Poonam, with the same motive in mind in Jaipur, who wants to find a soul-mate for her divorcee mother, Shoma, so that she doesn’t stay a loner for the rest of her life.
The common platform that brings Akshay and Poonam in touch is a matrimony site called “secondmarriage.com” and after the initial repercussions from the parents they succeed in getting their parents married off. Henceforth Poonam and Shoma shift in with Akshay and Suneel into an apartment in Gurgoan. Aided by domestic help in terms of a cook named Bihari and a north-eastern maid Flower, and the family cult being a multi-lingual one, Suneel and Shoma are reluctant at first but soon after romance takes its toll and set aflame the sparks of love.
Meanwhile Akshay and Poonam are delighted for their parents and exhilarated by the joy of family for which they longed for since childhood. They speak their soul out to each other on a particular night and that kicks off to be the turning point. They fall for each other after the night they spoke their hearts out. Little did they know of the mess that would follow? The happy family goes for a floppy situation leaving none happy. Dark humane emotions set off and the story goes in for a toss totally, leaving the four to come up with an out of norm but averagely logical solution.
