Madhuri Dixit was the first Bollywood heroine to match her steps with the ace dancer, choreographer and film maker Prabhu Deva. It was in the year 2000 when we saw Madhuri and Prabhu dancing together onscreen in the song ‘Que Sera Sera’ from the film “Pukar”. The iconic dancers performed the six and half minute item number and also did moon walking. And after a long gap of 12 years, Prabhu deva is ready to repeat the feat with actress Sonakshi Sinha in his upcoming flick “Oh My God”.
Sonakshi Sinha is the only other Bollywood heroine to perform a dance onscreen with Prabhu Deva after Madhuri. The song is ‘Gobinda’ and is a Janmashtami special which will release on August 5th this year. The dance number has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva himself.
When Sonakshi was asked about the experience of matching steps with the Southern star Prabu Deva, she said it was a fantastic experience. The challenge was really tough. In a situation when one is paired with the dancing superstar of India, Prabhu Deva, one can only pull up his/her socks and put in the best effort, thats exactly what this charming lady did. While she did the item number with Prabhu Deva, the standard was set very high.
So is the ‘Gobinda’ number to be just the copy cat of ‘Que Sera Sera’ by Madhuri? Sonakshi replied both the songs are completely different. Also her dance number is based on the theme of Janmashtami so not everything is same in both the songs.
The Dabangg girl is very excited about this special item number with Prabhu Deva but Sonakshi says that its really difficult to match upto the steps of Madhuri Dixit. Sona says she is flattered to be compared with the dancing queen of India Madhuri Dixit. Madhuri is a constant inspiration. And according to Sona, Madhuri is the best dancer in the entire Hindi film industry.
A spokesperson from the film said that the OMG team is hoping the best for the song, and wishes that the pairing of Prabhu Deva and Sonakshi will receive same appreciation as the iconic pairing of Prabhu and Mads received 12 years back.
“Oh My God” is directed by Umesh Shukla and Akshay Kumar is producing the film. Veteran actors Mithun Chakraborty and Paresh Rawal will be playing the male lead roles while Sonakshi is playing the female lead in the film.
