Priyadarshan’s much-awaited high octane action-packed thriller ‘Tezz’ hits the screens with much oomph and gusto. First thing first that Priyadarshan has taken the inspiration from the Hollywood superhit flick ‘Speed’. Well, Tezz is definitely different and cannot be termed the utter replica of Speed but the inspiration is there. Getting inspired from something is not band at all rather it’s a healthy sign if you dish out your product differently and by injecting your creativity with gripping content to entertain your audience. And Priyadarshan has done so with super conviction.
Action movies keep on being churned out on Bollywood platform and only few hit the hearts and Tezz is without any single doubt among them. It is Priyadarshan’s best work so far of his filmmaking career.
The movie has been in controversies due to the clash between the producer Ratan Jain (Venus) and Priyadarshan due to the item song ‘Laila’ pictursied on Mallika Sherawat. The song was churned out with the orders of the producer who wanted to inject this song into the film and obviously he wanted Mallika in this item number whereas Priyadarshan did not want this song in film since he did not find fit into the narrative. Sources reveal that the fact behind this clash is that Priyadarshan wanted to picturize the song on his favorite Sameera Reddy. To cut it short, finally the producer won the battle and the item song got its place in the initial reels of the film.
Tezz has been finding its place on the coffee tables and at all chatting places due to its splendid action very rarely seen in Hindi flicks. Another interesting point about the movie is that Ajay Devgan has turned action hero after some hiatus. The film turns a delicious treat for his fans who love seeing him dolling up action sequences. The enterprise has true international feel and the action is no less than any Hollywood action-packed film. That’s the beauty of Tezz which will surely drag the viewers off their feet.
A few Asians in the UK plant bomb in a bullet train operating between London to Glasgow. The Railway authorities receive an anonymous call with threat about the triggered bomb planted in the high-speed train. The complications arise for the London Railways and the Police, as the lives of the passengers have to be saved and they cannot stop the train or decelerate the speed because if the speed drops below a certain level, the bomb will explode. The terrorist activities are being triggered by Aakash Rana (Ajay Devgan) who is on his way to settle an old score. Arjun Khanna (Anil Kapoor) is assigned the task to solve it.
Tezz is a classy thriller with loads of thrilling moments to rave about. The film’s plus point is that it gets the eyes of the cinegoers fixed on the screens. The interest element is intact till the finale and that’s called the mastery skills of the storyteller.
The story written by Robin Bhatt and Aditya Darr is brilliant and interesting. The script dashed off by Robin Bhatt is superlative but carries some flaws such as the reels on Sameera Reddy and Zayed Khan should have been more stretched and elaborated. The reasons of their support to Ajay in the implementation of his terrorists’ plans, though look somewhat persuasive, but are not fully digestive. Rest of the script is fabulous.
The stunts performed by all the leading stars are simply breath-arresting. Sameera Reddy’s stunts are mind-boggling. All the credit for the brilliantly made international standards of action goes to the well known name of the action fraternity – Gareth Milne and Peter Pedrero who have many international hits to their credit.
Cinematography is another plus point of the movie and it can also be said that it adds values to the film’s worth in the eyes of the viewers. Thiru S. Appun makes the film super delicious with the eye-candy and creatively handled camera works. The sequences of moving train deserve special mention. Sajid-Wajid’s music is melodious and glides on the ears. Mallika’s item number ‘Laila’ is rocking.
Ajay Devgan looks smart and delivers the goods with perfect ease. His body language and proud personality required for this role are vividly obvious in his portrayal of this character. Anil Kapoor loots the hearts with his usual brilliance. Kangna Ranuat looks gorgeous and enacts her part with conviction. Zayed Khan does not get meaty role but allures with his acting. Sameera Reddy attracts with her daredevil action and acting prowess, Mohanlal with lesser part to play looks enticing. Boman Irani is always a class to watch. He is simply fabulous. Mallika Sherawt looks hot and sizzles in the item number.
Final Verdict by the Critic:
Tezz is a high octane action-packed entertaining thriller. For those who love action flicks, this one is really blood-boiling. A well-executed flick.
