_Mumbai: The Babri Masjid demolition has possibly spilt the political class from India down in middle. Still, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s daughter-in-law Smita apparently intends to do a movie on this issue. From what we have been able to find out so far it seems that Smita really wants to offer using this film a common’s man view on this issue, minus any political leanings. The Thackeray household was once considered to be a power centre at Matoshree, however, Smita wanted to put things right and insisted that under no circumstances will this upcoming production put forth the stance of the Shiv Sena on the controversy.
“There is no political angle to the film. My film is about the common man’s point of view. On how he sees the whole subject,” she said. This film, untitled Babri, was announced after a couple of months after the Supreme Court demanded the Sena supremo to spell his stand on a CBI plea which was meant for the restoration of charges against him.
“I have had 5-6 meetings with actor Aamir Khan and he has given his creative inputs for the script. I have spoken with Ajay Devgan, who is now in London, to feature in the film,” Smita told reporters. In spite of the fact that Aamir will not act in the movie production, Smita recognizes the actor’s contribution “on the idea level”. Smita continued and said that “He (Aamir) appreciated the intention with which I am making the film. He is busy with other projects and won’t feature in the film.”
According to her, “The bound script is ready and we launch the film in three months. I expect to finish the film in a single schedule and release it before the final verdict on the Babri case is announced,” she said. “I was thinking about this subject for a long time and I want to put forward my views in a cinematic way.”
