Many legendary films have graced the Indian film industry, but some films broke all the records set by their predecessors. Some made their producers and distributors laugh all the way to the bank. Some ran in the theatres for more than 13 years while some smashed the box office records altogether. Here is a list of some of the all time blockbuster films, Bollywood has ever seen. All the films featuring in the list were made after the 90’s started. This partly due to the state of inflation, which steadily progressed as years ticked.

- Hum Aapke Hain Kaun…!
Considered a masterpiece in its own right, the film is thought to be one of the grand Bollywood movies ever. It embodies the traditional custom of marriage and the relationship between the individuals. The soundtrack, though quite long comprising of 14 songs was the major point in film’s historic success. Though it features lower than the above mentioned films, if the inflation price is negated than the film may as well be considered the highest grossing film of all time. What is particularly impressive about the film is that it was made on a very low budget and fetched a tremendous return. The film has Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Alok Nath, Mohnish Behl and Renuka Shahane in key roles. The film was a major turning point for the director of Rajshri productions, Sooraj Barjatya.

The films mentioned above, have all fetched a great return. It is very difficult to estimate the impact of changing times and inflation, on the net gross of a film. Actual figures are rarely obtained, regarding the actual net gross of a film. Even, the comparisons between the films may differ significantly as the calculation of net gross becomes difficult over time.
