Singer Hariharan is composing for his first Hindi movie

Multilingual singer-composer Hariharan will now be composing for Bollywood films.Currently he is composing for a movie called Sada. After singing both film and non-film songs in various languages, Hariharan has now decided to compose for Bollywood. “I am doing music for a Hindi film. It’s called ‘Saada’. I am trying to give something new. I have done two Tamil films. Now for the first time I am doing a Hindi film,” Hariharan told IANS in an exclusive interview. He refused to give details about the film except the name.
Hariharan feels that unlike any other form of music, film music is not independent and apart from the composer, the lyricists, the singers, the director and the actors associated with the film contribute heavily towards it. So, while he wants to bring a change and do something different as a composer, he hopes that all other people associated with the film will change accordingly and help him to come up with something different.
Hariharan also revealed that his band Colonial Cousins with composer-singer Leslie Lewis is coming up with their next independent album after 10 long years. “We are going to take out our next album this year,” said Hariharan, who has sung Hindi songs like “‘Roja janeman”, “Chanda re” and “Tuhi re”. Hariharan, 55, was in Mumbai for a concert organised by Fever Entertainment and performed all his popular numbers without using any electronic instruments.
