Big B calls ‘Paan Sing Tomaar’ a true epic

Irrfan Khan and director Tigmanshu Dhulia are already basking in the glory of success of their latest venture with critics showering laudable comments to ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ (that hit theatres past Friday). And now, Bollywood’s ultimate star Mr. Amitabh Bachchan has lavished bucketfuls of praise on this film hailing it as an impeccable biopic that inspires awe.

Taking to his blog, Amitabh (who recently got discharged from hospital) was generous in his comments as he expressed his admiration for the film. Calling ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ a true biopic, he commended on the director’s restraining job and the stupendous performances put in together by the whole bunch of fresh faces. Amitabh also had sweet words for the protagonist Irrfan whom he described as ‘that incredible performer’.

What touched Big B’s heart is the poignancy in the film that is a true reflection of how a national hero was compelled to turn into a bandit and eventually died penniless. Amitabh highlighted the point that the film brilliantly captures the journey of a man from Madhya Pradesh and truly depicts how some of our national champions have to sell off their gold medals in order to survive the later stages of their lives. A moving story that shows how national heroes are forgotten and left to their fates!

Amitabh remarked that the film is a perfect tribute to many of our unsung heroes who often perish into oblivion & obscurity. He also appealed to the Indian government to look into this matter and try to bring about a change in the existing system so that our heroes are not snubbed by the society.

Overall, the film is a brilliant portrayal of a harsh reality of Indian sports. It did leave a lasting impression on Big B’s heart and you, too, are likely to feel touched by this tale woven magnificently by director Dhulia aided magically by ‘that incredible performer’ Irrfan Khan…
