Mumbai: Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming Dedh Ishqiya, the much-awaited sequel to the successful ‘Ishqiya (2010), keeps on getting much projection in the media and the audiences would love to wait for the sequel. Ishqiya had received the National Award and now with the sequel, the makers want distinctions again. The fact remains that Madhuri Dixit has been fetched in to play the lead role. Vidya Balan has been dropped this time around despite her getting huge praises for her acting skills and box office value due to the back to back hits – The Dirty Picture and Kahaani. Alongside Kangna Ranaut too is in the starcast.
Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah too are in the sequel playing the roles they enacted in the original. This time around the ambiance is in Lucknow. Well, we have learnt that Arshad Warsi is not happy at all with his role in the sequel. He has even voiced it to the director Abhishek Chaubey. Arshad’s role is not meatier in the movie. As we all know and he himself knows it well that Ishqiya was the only movie that had given him central character to play else he had been playing only sidekicks. Thus he now wants meaty role as he knows his career depends on the film. Not only does Arshad’s career depends on Dedh Ishqiya but also Madhuri’s career to lies on this film’s success. She is making comeback after a hiatus of five long years. She made her return to Bollywood with YRF’s Aaja Nachle (2007) but the movie bombed at the box office.
Arshad is of the view that his character would be overshadowed by the veterans like Naseeruddin Shah and Madhuri Dixit which is why he asked the director and the producer to take Kangna opposite him.
Madhuri will not be romancing both uncle and nephew like Vidya did in original but her character is associated with Naseeruddin Shah.
