Bollywood Celebrities Spread Awareness about Earth Hour

Mumbai: Bollywood celebs this time have found a new cause worth supporting and spreading awareness about. In general, these celebrities often come together to promote some cause that deserves the attention of the mass population. This time, they have joined hands to encourage India to acknowledge the earth hour by keeping the lights in their homes switched off for one hour.

This event was first stared in the year 2007 in order to make people aware of the need to save electricity and conserve power in general. It also serves to make people aware of the urgent need to take precautions against climate change. So, on the very last Saturday in the month of March, people are encouraged to turn off the lights that they don’t need urgently, for one hour in the evening. The time has been fixed as 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The whole of Bollywood and all its top celebrities are doing their part in encouraging people to acknowledge this ‘Earth Hour’. From the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan to Akshay Kumar, everyone has been tweeting about this. The aim is to encourage all their fans and followers to support this noble cause too. Let us take a look at some of the things that the celebrities have been tweeting, that are related to this cause.

  • Amitabh Bachchan told everyone on 30th that it is earth hour the next day from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. He encouraged everyone to put off the power in their houses and save electricity, besides promising that he himself will be doing the same.
  • Similarly, Dia Mirza too has encouraged her followers, fans and friends to keep the lights off between the decided time tonight. She also asks everyone to take a pledge for doing their bit in reducing the carbon footprint of the Earth in this one hour.
  • Akshay Kumar urges people to do this in order to ensure a greener and more beautiful future for all. He says that this one small act can go a long way in saving the earth.
  • A similar message has been given by Poonam Pandey. She too encourages everyone to switch off he lights in order to help create a better and brighter future.
