Celebrity Cricket League…..Stars Get Sporty!!!

Celebrity Cricket LeagueWhile the IPL has garnered huge popularity, and has been successful for four seasons now the film fraternity across India have found a unique way to cash onto its huge success. Yes it’s the CELEBRITY CRICKET LEAGUE (CCL) where stars from Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood and if not even the Bengali world have joined hands to start their own cricketing league.

While the first season went completely unnoticed, it is the second season which has been garnering headlines all over. From the inaugural opening of the second season at Sharjhah and two thrilling encounters this edition is sure to bring in some surprises. While the first match between Mumbai Heros captained by none other than Suneil Shetty and Telegu Warriors by Venkatesh ended in a tie with both teams ending up in a score of 167, the second encounter between Mumbai Heros and Chennai Rhinos the reigning champions was nothing than sort of a typical drama being unfolded on the field with its intense moments of high action and drama.

Mumbai Heros made 148 runs, thanks to the excellent batting by Raja Bhwerwani and Aftab Shivdasani adding valuable 26 runs. Chennai Rhinos had a bad start losing 3 quick wickets early but later managed to put in some fight when Shantanu Bhagyaraj and Vishnu had their partnership going strong. But it was Mumbai Heros who held their nerve and emerged as winners in this match beating the Rhinos by 23 runs as the Rhinos could manage 123 runs.

Sohail Khan – Owner of Mumbai Heros felt elated and had loss of words due to the team. He simply stated that it’s time to party as the boys have played really hard especially Suneil Shetty who was battling a groin injury during the game. Salman’s presence at the ground was also a huge motivation for the team.

The CCL has 6 teams in all – Mumbai Heros (Suneil Shetty- Captain), Telegu Warriors (Venkatesh), Chennai Rhinos (Vishal), Karnataka Bulldozers (Sudeep), Kerala Strikers (Mohanlal) and Bengal Tigers (Jeet).

The next match of the CCL would be played between Bengal Tigers and Karnataka Bulldozers at Bengaluru.

CCL promises to be a thrilling ride and time would say who would emerge as winners at the end of the tournament. Let’s wait and watch.
