Fardeen Khan`s sister killed in Delhi car crash

It’s so ironic! Fame & wealth do not guarantee happiness & long life. And Bollywood had its brush with this horrifying truth yet again as actor Fardeen Khan’s half-sister lost her life in a tragic car accident in Delhi.

On the early hours of Monday, two speeding cars rammed into each other, in a South Delhi’s suburban area, leading to the death of two people. One amongst them was Sonia, Fardeen Khan’s half-sister while the other was an AIIMS technical officer called Mohan.  The horrifying incident took place in the August Kranti Marg area of Delhi and is a gruesome reminder of the fact that death is always around the corner when you are least expecting it.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 am on Monday morning. Sonia, 48, was on the car (a Honda city) alongside driver Ramesh Kumar and a friend Keshav Sharma. It was hit by a speeding Maruti Swift Dzire that was hurtling down the road with great speed and was driven by Mohan Kumar.

The collision was an ear-splitting one and even as the victims were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, Sonia & Mohan were declared dead by the doctors. Three other people suffered minor injuries and were released after initial treatment.

Sonia Sethia, wife of a businessman, was on her way home to New Friends Colony from a friend’s place on Gulmohar Park. The driver of Dzire, Mohan Kumar, 50, was also returning home after attending a marriage ceremony. Sonia’s husband Rajender Sethia was out of town and learned of the incident in the wee hours of the morning.

Fardeen Khan looked glum as he paid his last respects to his sister on her funeral. Mohan was accompanied by his son but fortunately the latter escaped any serious injury.
