Mumbai: Bollywood’s leading actress Kareena Kapoor and yesteryear’s successful actress Sri Devi are going to have a face off at the box office on September 21st as their movies are going to release on same date. Kareena Kapoor’s much in talks and awaited Heroine and Sri Devi’s comeback vehicle English Vinglish are slated for release. Previously there were reports about the postponement of English Vinglish but now the producer R. Balki has dropped the idea and now wants to release the film on the scheduled date.
Although both are women centric movies and Kareena Kapoor’s market is very high these days, co producer R Balki and Eros Entertainment had the meeting and planned to stick with the original date of release. English Vinglish has been directed by Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde whereas Heroine has been directed by Madhur Bhandarkar who is also the co producer on the project.
Balki says that every movie has its own audience and the actors too have their own viewers. Madhur’s Heroine is an interesting film but seeing Sri Devi on screen back again would also interest the audiences.
Balki adds that he has done whatever he could have and now the game is in the hands of Gauri and Sri Devi as to how they have to reach at the audiences. English Vinglish also features Bollywood’s mega star Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo and he has not charged any cost for the same. Balki tells that he could not dare to discuss the money with the legendary star. Balki has previously directed two movies with Bachchan – Cheeni Kum and Paa.
Well, there is no doubt that Sri Devi’s comeback is being awaited by the audiences, Kareena’s Heroine too has generated much oomph and liking among the audiences. Now we have to wait to see who wins at the box office – the young lass or the oldie?
