Happy Birthday, A. R. Rahman!

Chennai: Today is a very special day in India, a day that must be celebrated. It is the birthday of A. R. Rahman, known as probably the most prolific music composer, and one of the most talented. Also known as Mozart of Madras, A.R. Rahman was born in 1966.

While he was still in school, A. R. Rahman worked for private rock bands as a keyboard player and arranger, part time. That’s when his career started, and it continued when he enrolled with Master Dhanraj Pillai. At just 11 years old, he joined the band of Ilaiyaraaja, the music director, as a keyboard player. At the same time, he was working in several other troupes of music directors, and even toured the world.

Later, he graduated the Trinity College of Music in London, with a specialization in Western classical music. He managed to open his own recording studio at the age of 25, and then began composing music for documentary films and jingles.

Now, he is celebrating his 45th birthday, and we all wish him all the happiness in the world.
