In a fiery and heated clash, Indian ‘Greek God’ Hrithik Roshan has been pitted against the Hollywood star Christian Bale. Hrithik’s ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ is competing for the big prize of ‘Best Film’ in the prestigious Asian Film Awards. And its biggest competitor in the category is the acclaimed Hollywood flick ‘The Flowers of War’ that stars Christian Bale as the male protagonist.
Ritish Sidhwani, who has co-produced ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, is thrilled that his film is enjoying the spotlight at the center stage vying for big prize with other biggies from the industry. “It’s very satisfying to see that after doing so well at the box-office in India, our film is getting critical acclaim alongside other great films,” he concedes.
The film from the factory of Excel Entertainment has already made a big splash in all the award shows held so far in India including Filmfare, Zee Cine and Apsara Awards. It not only got the thumbs up from the critics but made a huge mark at the box office in both national & foreign markets. And now, it is not just being showcased on global platforms but is also licking the major limelight.
Apart from competing in the ‘Best Film’ section at the Asian Film Awards, ZNMD has also been nominated for ‘Best Production Design’ and ‘Best Editor’.
The film festival boasts of some big films from various nooks of Asia including ‘Postcard’ from Japan and ‘Warriors of the Rainbow’ from Taiwan. Bale’s ‘The Flowers of War’ seems to be the frontrunner as this film has also been nominated in the 69th Golden Globe Awards. The film is a drama revolving around Chinese history set during the times of 1937’s second Sino-Japanese war.
Among other Bollywood participants for big trophies, ‘The Dirty Picture’ actress Vidya Balan is vying for the ‘Best Actress’ trophy. AR Rahman and Ritesh Aggarwal are also eyeing trophies as ‘Best Composer’ (Rockstar) and ‘Best Visual Effects’ (RA One).
