India’s biggest and most popular singing reality show is finally back. The show which has acted as a platform for many contestants in the past will be aired from 1st June. The sixth season will be judged by singer Sunidhi Chauhan, composer Salim Merchant and composer Anu Malik. Mini Mathur who acted as a host for the first three seasons. Hussain Kuwajerwala who hosted the reality show for the last three seasons will be her co-anchor.
The judges will travel throughout the country selecting contestants for the show at the pre-decided audition centres. This time Indian Idol hopefuls can also paticipate through the online mode of registration apart from the SMS and IVR modes. Auditions have been divided into two divisions, main city auditions and mini city auditions.
The Main City Auditions were held in five cities, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Auditions have already been held in Kolkata on 23rd and 24th March. The Delhi auditions were held on 30th and 31st March. The auditions for the Lucknow audition centre were held on 5th April while those for Ahmedabad centre were held on 9th April. The dates for Mumbai auditions were 18th and 19th May.
The Mini City Auditions were held in four cities, namely Amritsar, Jaipur, Rajkot and Aurangabad. The Amritsar auditions were held on 11th March while the Jaipur auditions were held on 18th March.
The Rajkot and Aurangabad auditions were held on 15th and 22nd April respectively.
