Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani has been banned from returning to her homeland and is in exile in Paris. She lately has posed naked for France’s Madame Le Figaro magazine, which publishes César, the French version of the Oscar. The actress who was born on 10th July, 1983 in Tehran, she is the daughter of actor and theater director Behzad Farahani. The actress started career with playing lead in Dariush Mehrjui’s ‘The Peer Tree’ and won Crystal Roc as the best actress.
The actress lately gave nude shots for the magazine in which she was seen covering her breasts with just her hands. This courageous act has put a lot of pressure on the Iranian film community as Farahani is considered a part of the Independent Iranian film community. She was criticized for this act and banned from returning to her homeland. The Britain’s Daily Telegraph said that the actress is no longer welcome in Iran after het act of posing naked for the magazine. She was also seen topless in the short black and white film by Jean-Baptiste Mondino named “Corps et Âmes”. This kind of news was seen when Pakistani Actress Veena Malik went nude for an Indian magazine. This act of the Iranian Actress Golshifteh Farahani was considered Anti-Islam. She was criticized for this act and the 29 years old actress now cannot return to her homeland for this.
When asked Golshifteh said that she was told by a Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guide official that they or Iran does not need any artist or actors and she may offer her services elsewhere. The actress may have followed the expression of women freedom by a shock of nudity but the actress by far has got the greatest shock of getting banned from her own homeland. According to her she had posed for the magazine in protest to the over conservative practices in the name of culture that is followed in Iran. It has cost her much as now she cannot enter Iran. This is not just the instance she is reported to have committed Anti-Muslim act as on 2008 she was criticized on failing to wear a veil to the Academy Awards ceremony. After that she moved to France where she has now done the nude act to ensure her ‘No Entry’ into Iran. This is again an example among many of women going courageous just to get criticized.
