Chocolate Boy Madhavan romanced hot bomb Bipasha Basu in ‘Jodi Breakers’ which is gearing up for grand release on Feb 24th. The film directed by Ashwini Choudhary landed in trouble when The makers of Heartbreakers have filed a case against the Jodi Breakers producers in the Bombay High Court for infringement of copyright and asked for Rs 50 crore as compensation. Film makers of ‘Jodi Breakers’ were accused by Universal Pictures International France and Ors (co-producer of Heartbreakers) of plagiarism. Even repeated assurances from the film makers of ‘Jodi Breakers’ didnot stop them from accusing them of infringement.

Sources say many are interested in bagging the rights of the French film ‘Heart Breakers’ and ‘Jodi Breakers’ played spoilsport. Insider on condition of anonymity said “A lot of A-lister Bollywood producers including Karan Johar were interested to buy the rights of the French film. The negotiations were on. The producers were then aghast to see the promos of Jodi Breakers, the plot of which is strikingly similar to their film. It’s a huge loss for them and they decided to take serious action against the Bollywood producers for plagiarism,” . The French Film ‘Heat Breakers’ stars Romain Duris and Venessa Paradis in the lead.

An insider says “The French producers have filed the case against five people- the producer, Prasar Visions Pvt Ltd, director Ashwini Chaudhary, the writer, the processing lab and Dariwala who claimed that the producers stole her idea. The first hearing took place on February 10 and today is the second hearing,”. Xerxes Ranina, the founding partner, refused to comment saying: “The matter is sub judice. I won’t be able to comment on the specifics of the case other than the fact that the case has been filed in the Bombay High Court.”. It has to be seen whether the ‘Jodi Breakers’ will now release as scheduled or not.
