Strangest incident happened at Hema Malini’s bungalow. A leopard strayed into the bungalow here Friday morning, triggering panic. Her bungalow is located in Dindoshi area of northwest Mumbai. The leopard, believed to have come from the adjoining Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), was spotted by a security guard. A leopard entered her premises creating havoc in the neighborhood. When the incidence took place, Hemaji was not at her home. Neighbours immediately alerted the park authorities who sent a team equipped with tranquilizers and a cage to trap the wild cat, Chief Conservator of Forests S. A. Thorat told IANS. The SGNP authorities immediately sent a team to her bunglow with tranquilisers and a cage to capture the animal.
“The leopard will be captured soon,” said a senior SGNP official. The park, spread over around 100 square km, has over five dozen leopards and many other wild animals living in the thick forests. Leopards often stray into houses in the neighbourhood including the Film City, Aarey Milk Colony, Dahisar, Borivli, Kandivli, Malad, Goregaon, Mulund and Bhandup. The bollywood actress was intimated about the incidence, she reacted and said that the Maharashtra Government should take some actions to avoid those incidents. “I hope the leopard is being looked after well. Every now and then, one hears leopards straying into residential areas,” she said.
