After Salman Khan decided to auction his paintings recently for his charitable organization Being Human, it is actor cum rugby player Rahul Bose’s turn to do good for society.
The ace actor has decided to auction 29 memorabilia in support of his NGO “The Foundation.” The auction titled “Equation 2012 – Auction for Equality”, is similar to the auction of sports memorabilia held in 2010 which had India’s best and historic things.
This year 29 pieces would be pledged for auction not only by India but worldwide in an event to be held on February 11 2012.
Some of the artefacts which are to be auctioned include Legendary Batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s bat, Sebastin Vettel’s signed F1 Championship racing vest, ICC Cricket World Cup Final Ball signed by Indian Captain M.S Dhoni and Kumar Sangakara amongst other things.
Rahul Bose states that he spent six months collecting the memorabilia and has hopes of getting a good response.
The auction would be conducted by Malika Advani and would be hosted by actors Sidharth of Rang De Basanti and Striker fame and Cyrus Broacha. The proceeds would go to the NGO “The Foundation” which aims at creating a world without discrimination.
Also participating in the event to raise funds, is ace footballer Baichung Bhutia who is in his retirement year. He plans to auction four additional pieces the proceeds of which would go towards the earthquake victims in Sikkim.
Baichung adds that it is a pleasure working with Rahul (Bose) and help The Foundation. The work the NGO does is tough and difficult but they do it with much caring and thorough professionalism he added.
While the artefacts in the auction are not from any particular year, they are ranging from different sports and key sporting events in recent years. Something as Old as Milkha Singh’s Running Spikes to Fernando Alonso’s Racing gloves there is something for everyone to lay their hands on especially when it is for a noble cause.
